The Clásico match between Standard and Anderlecht, in the eighth final of the Belgian Cup, was derailed two weeks ago after misconduct by visiting fans from Liège, who threw chairs and torches into the Anderlecht section. RSCA fans responded and threw several projectiles.

Referee Bram van Driesch was forced to stop the match for a while and the damage was severe. Standard supporters destroyed a total of 198 seats and destroyed toilets in the visitors’ sections. Lamps were also broken and the walls were marred with graffiti. The damage amounted to several tens of thousands of euros.

To avoid similar situations in the near future, El Clásico will certainly be completed without fans visiting until the end of next season. A decision by the clubs themselves, in consultation with the Professional League. Therefore there will be no external fans present at Lotto Park or Sclessin.
