Luca Brecel is the first world snooker champion from continental Europe, Remco Evenepoel has won 13 times with Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Belgian Championship, 2 stages in the Giro, 3 in the Vuelta and the World Time Trial Championship as highlights.
Bart Swings completed his basket: After the gold medal at the European Games and Championships, the skater was also the best at the 2023 World Team Championships. Jasper Philipsen, good in 4 stages of the Tour, the green jersey and 19 victories for the season, falls by the wayside.
On the ice, Loena Hendricks won a silver medal at the European Championships and bronze at the World Cup. Lotte Kopecky had the absolute best year with 14 victories, including again the Tour of Flanders, the Belgian Championship and Road Trial, the green of the Tour and the World Cup as the icing on the cake. Emma Meesemann led the Belgian Cats to the European title and Fenerbahce to the Europa League.
All winners are traditionally announced at the Sports Gala. This year it will be held on December 10 at the Skyhall at Brussels Airport.
