The semi-finals of the Olympic Games are now over. And they put up a great show in various competitions. After eliminating home country, it’s time to see what the top finishers will do.
The semi-finals were held on Tuesday. The USA then played against Germany, while Brazil faced Spain, the world champions. The bronze medal will be played on Friday and the final on Saturday.
The first final came in a match between the USA and Germany. America’s favorite period in those types of contests is behind us. Germany has also been an absolute superpower.
Like previous matches, this time we could not win within ninety minutes. Both teams wanted to score, but couldn’t. So off we went to overtime, ever excited.
Smith makes the difference
In the end, it was Sophia Smith who made it 1-0 in the 95th minute. Germany tried again, but couldn’t get an equalizer, forcing potential penalty kicks.
Brazil will face USA in the final. A chance for a new generation of Americans to win Olympic gold again. Germany still has a chance in the battle for bronze against world champions Spain.
