Thibaut Courtois has made a very radical decision regarding his future: the Red Devil has announced that he will not return to the Red Devils as long as Domenico Tedesco remains the coach.
Thibaut Courtois’ saga at the Red Devils has taken a new turn. The goalkeeper announced on social media on Thursday evening that he will not be returning to the national team.
This comes as a result of an open conflict with the national team coach, Domenico Tedesco, who deprived him of the captaincy during a match in the summer of 2023.
Courtois subsequently left the national team and did not hesitate to criticise Tedesco’s decisions, later announcing that he would not attend Euro 2024.
Following this announcement, the Belgian Football Association responded via a short statement published on X (formerly Twitter). The statement read: “We regret but accept Thibaut Courtois’ decision.”
“After the European Championship, we asked Thibaut Courtois about his plans for the future with the Red Devils. These are now clear and we respect his decision. We would like to thank Thibaut Courtois for the wonderful moments with the Red Devils and wish him well. Good luck for the future.”
