As of today, savings certificates issued by the main bank Bellevue bring in more money. Only the interest on the one-year variable does not change.
In the news: Belvius increased the interest on savings certificates for a period of between two and ten years. New prices apply as of today.
- Interest on a two-year savings certificate rises from 2.6 to 2.8 percent overall. You still owe the tax authorities a 30 percent withholding tax, bringing the new net return to 1.96 percent.
- Interest on a three-year savings certificate increases from 2.5 to 2.7 percent overall. After paying the withholding tax, you will be left with a net 1.89 percent.
- Interest on four- and five-year savings certificates rises from 2.4 to 2.7 percent. After paying the withholding tax, you will be left with a net 1.89 percent.
- Interest on six-year savings bonds rises from 2.4 to 2.6 percent. After paying the withholding tax, you will be left with a net 1.82 percent.
- Interest on longer-term savings certificates will rise from 2.3 to 2.6 percent of the total. After paying the withholding tax, you will be left with a net 1.82 percent.
The most profitable savings certificates
Explanation: Due to interest rate increases, Belfius offers the most profitable savings bonds (with a minimum term of 2 years) to men.
- Currently, the state-owned bank does not face much competition. In Flanders, VDK is the only one that now offers savings certificates of two years or more. The financial institution wants to differentiate itself from other players by focusing on savings certificates with an energy impact. VDJ reinvests the capital raised in “organisations, companies and projects that contribute to a better environment, make the economy more sustainable and green the housing stock”.
- The yield on savings certificates is slightly lower than that of Belvius. For example, the variable return for two years is 2.65 percent, or 1.855 percent for ten years. Anyone who insures their money for at least 6 years will receive an annual payout of 2 percent gross, or 1.4 percent net.
What about a one-year savings certificate?
I noticed: Belvius does not manipulate the interest on the one-year savings certificate. This remains at 3 percent gross, or 2.1 percent net.
- At VDK, a one-year savings certificate also carries an interest rate of 3 percent.
- At BNP Paribas Fortis, you can now invest part of your capital in a one-year savings certificate for the third time in a few weeks. This also brings in 3 percent.
- As with previous versions, the subscription period is limited. It is possible to invest part of your money in savings certificates until June 30. BNP Paribas Fortis may terminate the subscription period early. The semester begins on July 1.
- We expect BNP Paribas Fortis to issue more savings bonds this year. Consider the month of September, for example. At the beginning of that month, nearly €22 billion in savings will be released because one-year tax-friendly government bonds, or van Petegem bonds, will expire.
