KRC Genk has serious plans for 2024 and wants to turn a not-so-good year. Dimitri De Conde has already indicated their desire to keep everyone, although one player appears to be becoming progressively untenable for the Smurfs.
Dimitri De Conde has already spoken several times about keeping all the important players. In principle, no one may leave. This was the case for Bilal Khanous, but also for all the other players. And therefore also for Joseph Paintsil. But his contract includes a fixed clause amounting to about eight million euros.
Sources: LA Galaxy are seeking to sign Ghana international winger Joseph Bentsil from Genk
Paintsil, 25, has a release clause of about $8.5 million, but it expires next week. There is no imminent agreement on personal terms, but LAG is working on it

If this condition is lifted, Genk will have no choice but to let the Ghanaian go. He is currently working in Ivory Coast to participate in the African Cup of Nations. So he may have already played his last match for Genk.
The LA Galaxy continues to insist and would certainly like to release the clause in Paintsil's contract. They must do so before mid-January, after which the clause expires. According to The Athletic, they continue to attack him in Major League Soccer, although there are also European pirates on the coast. Clarity can be expected in the next couple of days.
