Bottas wins in Turkey, angry Hamilton loses leadership to Verstappen | Formula 1

After a night of rain, the drivers chose a group of intermediate vehicles at the start. The front runners then set off in a quiet race. Lewis Hamilton had more work to do. After a penalty kick, he started 11th, and so the Briton started a race to catch up.

Tsunoda held him longer, but Hamilton quickly advanced to the top 5. There he had a bitter duel with Red Bull Perez, but here also the Briton pulled the longest straw.

Then doubts began about the choice of frame. In the foreground everyone went to a new set of mediums. Verstappen dived first, then Bottas. Only Leclerc and Hamilton felt like trying with one set. Mercedes contacted Hamilton on several occasions, but he refused because he was directly behind Verstappen at the time.

Leclerc didn’t get his car back in control, he dived and Bottas and Verstappen became 1 and 2 again. Hamilton wasn’t giving up either and opted for new rubber until 8 laps from the end. It cost him two places. And he couldn’t make up for it in such a short time.

Bottas took his first win of the year with the fastest lap. Verstappen had enough for 2nd place to take the lead in the World Cup position once again. Hamilton was frustrated.
