The Red Devils are playing in the European Championship in Germany. We have to wait and see what the national team can achieve there.
Satan’s madness is still far from its peak. A good run through the group stage could set fans on fire, although the question remains whether this team can achieve significant success in the European Championship.
The best European Championship performance goes back almost half a century. In 1980, the Red Devils won the silver medal in Italy. The national team’s performance has never been better.
One of the players who was there at that time was Jan Ceulemans. The team went into the tournament without any ambitions, but in the end it turned out to be an amazing performance.
So far, expectations are not high, but Jan Ceulemans is clear that a path like the one in 1980 is almost impossible for this team.
“In football anything is possible. Look at our performance 44 years ago. The advantage for the Belgians is that the pressure is much less this summer compared to previous tournaments,” Jan Ceolmans told Gazete Van Antwerp.
Lots of enthusiasm from the former Red Devils. “Then they had to at least reach the semi-finals. Now that is no longer expected or required. But I don’t see these Red Devils reaching the final.”
