China launched an unmanned cargo spaceship on its way to its space station under construction, Xinhua News Agency reported. It will be automatically linked to the Tianhe unit, which will be launched into space at the end of April.
Tianhe (Celestial Harmony), along with two other modules, will form the Chinese space station, which is supposed to be completed next year. The Tianzhou-2 cargo ship (Heavenly Ship) carries supplies and fuel there. A Chinese space mission aboard three astronauts is scheduled for June. They will stay in Tianhe Unit for three months.
The three units that will make up the space station will be transported by the Long March 5B rocket. The return of China’s largest launch vehicle in May caused disruptions as components threatened to re-enter the atmosphere without supervision. Last year, debris from the same type of missile landed in Ivory Coast, damaging homes. In the end, debris from the last Long March 5B ended up in the Indian Ocean, causing no damage.
The International Space Station (ISS) in its final years. If the International Space Station crashes, China will be the only country with a space station.
