Club Brugge made an offer for 19-year-old Dutch player Bjorn Meijer last weekend. Top-tier left-back FC Groningen, who completed the match against Ajax last weekend, is also receiving interest from the Premier League, Serie A and Eredivisie.

Meijer has not been active in the Dutch top class for a very long time. He just celebrated his debut on the last day of last season. Since December 2021, he has been a permanent member of the eighth-placed team in the Eredivisie. However, Club Brugge is said to have made an important bid for the Dutch youth international in a bid to outpace the competition.

But for Groningen, this is still not enough. The Dutch middle engine is hoping for the jackpot and considering sums of around 5 million, a bridge too far for the club. So both clubs will have to add water to the wine if they have to move. Groningen too, because Meijer no longer plans to extend his contract (until 2023 with an option). So the summer departure looks better for all parties.

Blauw-Zwart previously tried to snatch young Dutch left-back from Eredivisie Tyrell Malacia, but that turned out to be very costly.
