At Club Brugge, they made a number of changes to the organizational structure after the departure of CEO Vincent Mannaert. Blauw-Zwart appointed a new head of scouting. They brought an old acquaintance into their home.
Jan Peter Martens announced via LinkedIn that he has started working as Head Scout at Club Brugge. A few days ago, he announced his departure from Schalke after 11 years, where he had been the team’s manager since 2013 and a scout since 2019.
“About 11 years ago I came to Gelsenkirchen and yes, what a journey it has been! Today I proudly say thank you, but also goodbye, because I was a Schalke player, always a Schalke player,” he said.
Eleven years at Schalke 04
Martens was active as a professional player for KV Mechelen, Roda JC and Sturm Graz. Following his professional career, he was also a technical director at STVV and thus worked at Schalke 04 for eleven years at Club Brugge and would therefore hold an important position in scouting.
It appears that all the positions at the national champions have been filled. Bob Maddow is CEO, Martin Didubeleer is sporting director, Nicky Hein is coach and Jan Peter Martens is head scout.
