On Friday, the Council of Ministers approved a further expansion of the “Work in Belgium” digital platform. This was announced by Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Nicole De Moors (CD&V) and Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Voroit). This will facilitate the processing of the application to come and work in Belgium.
Connecting the RSZ to the digital platform should support companies that are currently facing a shortage of workers and that find a suitable employee abroad. Due to long waiting times when applying for a combined work and residence permit, companies run the risk of employees being overlooked in Belgium.
“Large companies have problems recruiting these people. Smooth processing of the application to come and work in Belgium is essential to strengthen our competitive position abroad,” says De Moor.
The draft cooperation agreement in question is now being submitted to the Consultation Committee, which includes the federal government and the federal states. The text is then sent to the Council of State.
