Concord trial version does not apply to PC

The open beta of PlayStation Shooter Concord can’t be described as entirely successful.

The beta is free to play this weekend for everyone, but that doesn’t mean players will be coming in droves. Last week during the closed beta, the numbers were already terrible, but now that everyone can get started, the hero shooter still isn’t getting much color on the cheeks. At the time of writing, the beta on Steam has peaked at just 2,388 concurrent players, according to data from SteamDB.

Oh, those aren’t the best numbers… For comparison, the similar Overwatch 2 — a game that many people also hate — peaked at over 50,000 concurrent players on Steam in the past 24 hours. The difference is stark.

Of course, the demo can also be played on PlayStation 5, but unfortunately we don’t have data on that. So it’s possible that things are booming on console, but the PC numbers anyway don’t bode well for this live-service game.

There is also good news for people who are enjoying the beta to the fullest. Developer Firewalk has added a sixth mode: Signal Chase. Here you and your team must identify and control certain areas on the map.

In Concord, you play as Freegunner mercenaries, competing against each other in teams of five. The online FPS takes place in a sci-fi universe and is reminiscent of the Overwatch design. The game will be released on August 23rd on PlayStation 5 and PC, and will cost forty euros.
