Damon Hedda receives the Kyle Anderson trophy after the New Zealand Darts Masters

Darts manager Mac Elkin presented the Kyle Anderson Trophy to Damon Hedda. This is the second year in a row that ‘The Heat’ has received this prestigious award.

The trophy will be awarded to the best player from Oceania during the two World Series tournaments in Australia and New Zealand this month. The trophy is named in honor of Kyle Anderson, a happy Australian darts player who died suddenly in August 2021. Mac Elkin was Anderson’s manager and was chosen to present the trophy.

Hetta reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Darts Masters in Wollongong, while building on this performance with a good final placing at the New Zealand Darts Masters in Hamilton.

The 37-year-old Australian opened with a 6-1 win over Simon Whitlock, qualifying for the final after victories over Rob Cross (6-5) and Peter Wright (7-4). However, in the final, defending world champion Luke Humphries was too strong 8-2.

The Kyle Anderson Trophy will be awarded for the first time in 2022. Gordon Mathers received the award after reaching the semi-finals of the Queensland Darts Masters. Hedda received the honorary prize in 2023 after reaching the final of the New South Wales Darts Masters.
