It was announced today that Davy Klaassen will be in the picture at Anderlecht. The midfielder is without a club and therefore could be acquired for free.
But at the moment there is no interest from Anderlecht in Klaassen. Anderlecht is looking for more of a number 6 in football, and Klaassen is not the profile they are looking for.
The 31-year-old Dutchman plays higher up the pitch and was offered to Nerbedy, but was quickly rejected. The fact that he could be acquired for free didn’t play a part in this. In his position they are already good with Verschaeren, Struykens, Aschimeru and Lyonni.
They want a bigger, technically gifted defensive midfielder who can play both in defence and attack. That’s not what Klaassen is.
What we already wrote yesterday: Jesper Friedberg is currently keeping his cards close to his chest. He is looking for an opportunity with his limited budget. Many fans are wondering where Debast’s money went, but it has not been fully credited to the account yet.
Besides, Friedberg can only use a portion of that. After all, his budget also includes payroll costs, which are still too high for Purple & White. That doesn’t mean more effort won’t be put in if the right target can be achieved.
