Club Brugge's sporting department is currently looking for a new coach for the first team. But they will also have to find a T1 for the women's team. For example, the dismissal of Helen Jacques was announced on Thursday evening.
Club Brugge's all-female team was created after cooperation with KSV Gabeke. In 2011, the women also began playing under the same registration number as the men's team. But for a long time this was by no means an absolute priority within the public process.
That changed a few years ago. In 2020, Blauw-Zwart announced a complete rebranding. Since then, the women's team has become known as “Club YLA”. This name change was also accompanied by greater professionalism.
The sporting return is very little
For example, Club YLA was the first Belgian team to collaborate with a menstrual coach, and more resources have been deployed to make this a success story as well. With Julien Prudhomme, the women's division also had its own executive director.
However, this has not achieved much sporting success at the moment. In recent seasons, YLA has been constantly in the shadow of Anderlecht and OH Leuven, among others. Despite reaching the cup final this season, the regular competition ended in fourth place.
Defeat has dire consequences
During the opening day of the play-offs, they also lost heavily to Anderlecht, meaning the potential title already appears to be flying by. However, defeat against the Purple and White team will not be without consequences. The club announced on Thursday that the collaboration with Helen Jacques had been terminated by mutual agreement. The former Red Flame and former Blauw-Zwart player has only been serving as head coach since the start of this season. Her T2 David Antunes Pereira will complete the remainder of the campaign.
