Today, EA and Maxis announced their collaboration with creative entrepreneur Bretman Rock to invite everyone to discover the many facets for themselves in The Sims 4.
The game is seen as the ultimate self-exploration tool where freedom reigns and players have the ability to discover who they can become: in-game and in real life.
“I’ve been playing The Sims since I was a kid, and love working with the brand to encourage everyone to discover and celebrate the many sides of themselves,” Bretman Rock said. “In The Sims I can experience endless versions of myself in a world without boundaries and prejudices, and I want everyone else to feel how liberating and breathtaking. Be what you want, date whoever you want, and dress the way you want.”
The Sims has been known for decades for enabling people to explore and express different aspects of themselves, giving them the freedom to experience the Sims they create, the stories they tell, and the worlds they build. In the ‘Find Yourself’ campaign, The Sims teamed up with Bretman Rock, an online sensation with over 50 million followers, known for his vibrant personality and playful outlook on life, to help players experience the chaos that engages in self-discovery and connects with ideas, experiences, and the many versions of themselves which they have not yet been able to explore in real life.
Inspired by classic sitcoms, the campaign introduces viewers to different sides of Bretman Rock – Teen Goth, Hip Dad, Maternal Cook, Thrilled Astronaut, and Urban Cowboy, all coming together in one big, bizarre, just-happening game. …living in the Sims family.
Julia Victor, Senior Director, Head of Brand, told The Sims: “The Sims continues to create a platform for gamers to create and explore without limits. Bretman Rock advocates that everyone be true to themselves. Together, we hope to encourage gamers to celebrate this chaos even adulthood, identifying new moments and opportunities to discover the many different sides of themselves, both in The Sims and in real life.”
For a short while, The Sims and Bretman Rock are teaming up with young talents from around the world to help players find #SimSelves on TikTok. The hashtag challenge features a filter that allows them to try different characters inspired by The Sims, such as Pastel Goth or Mermaidcore, via augmented reality. When they “reveal” their new selves in the Sim, a themed effect is activated that will further emphasize the specific character’s aura.
Players are invited to share their own stories with the community about how The Sims helped them find themselves on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok using the hashtag #SimsSelves.
