When purchasing a new car or truck, consumers will pay an environmental contribution of €10 from 1 January. This contribution will be used to fund future car recycling. This was reported by Febelauto, the organization that manages end-of-life vehicles as well as batteries for hybrid and electric cars.
Not only household waste can be reused and recycled, but also automobile parts and materials. Febelauto has been managing the recycling of end-of-life vehicles since 1999. Certified centers and shredding facilities dismantle end-of-life vehicles and recycle all types of materials in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
In this way, 97.6 percent of the vehicle in our country is already recycled, says Kathrine Lennaerts, Director of Febelauto. Therefore, Belgium is one of the best European players. But with the advent of electric vehicles and more sophisticated technologies, new recycling challenges are emerging.
By contributing environmentally, Febelauto wants to continue to ensure sound operation in the future.
