If you honestly don’t think Slack (or open source MatterMost) is better than Teams, I’m wondering what kind of work environment and how deeply you use both apps.
Slack doesn’t have the same issues as MS Teams, but it does have other issues that are just as annoying. This is purely the front end. I used both a lot for 2 years (pandemic).
Regarding the backend, integration with M365 (or whatever) is really a drama! And this isn’t an MS problem, it’s a Slack problem, because other companies know how to integrate things properly. And then we have vs. features. it costs. Things like SSO and provisioning/deprovisioning (which is also dramatic), please pay an extra 5€/month/user! If you want DLP, add another 8€ per month per user. MS Teams for Enterprise costs $5.25 per month per user with all Enterprise features already included, while with Slack you pay $20 per user per month…
Now a lot of developers will say, yes, but a lot of cool things can be done in Slack! I agree, but this is also possible in MS Teams, but most companies do not allow it because the implementation is often very insecure and relatively recently people have started to consider joining MS Teams. In Slack, everything is completely insecure, but the developers twisted that a long time ago and they just do what they want and security… what is this… ;p
None of the solutions are perfect, they are all imperfect for different reasons. If everything is going well, people start to look at other issues, such as management, costs and integration. Now in some cases, X will work better than Y for target group Z. But does Slack work 4x better than MS Teams in those cases? What about all other cases?
