The fact that talents like Vincent Kompany, Romelu Lukaku, Yuri Tillmans, Jeremy Duques, Leander Dendoncker and other young Anderlecht players have become big names in football for years has given Anderlecht coaching name and fame.
The European Club Association (ECA) has chosen Anderlecht to host a two-day youth football knowledge exchange event. “Anderlecht is among the top five and largest youth academies in Europe. Its values are great and its school system is first class,” said Pouya Yagobinia of the Egyptian Chefs Association.
“One of the things we’ve noticed the most is how Anderlecht combines talent development and school. We haven’t succeeded yet,” adds Juan Esteban Gomez Lama, who comes to hear on behalf of the Seville club.
Sevilla, Inter, Ajax, Sporting and FIFA came to hear what clubs can learn from each other and what Belgium coach Roberto Martinez and Jan Kindermans, head of Anderlecht’s youth academy, had to say.
“We had about 75 ECA people visiting and I was told there were about 65 clubs, including really prestigious clubs from Europe. So we are honored that the ECA chose us for this event,” Kindermans was proud.
Training is a full-time job for Anderlecht, which requires a lot of time and effort. “It is a team effort of about 90 people who work day in and day out to train and coach the young players.”
