Fake transfer completed: Lyon acquire Ernest Nehme from RWDM for €28.5m

Ernest Nehme has made a permanent move from RWDM to Olympique Lyonnais, where he played on a rental basis last season. This completes the strange construction of the Ghanaian striker’s arrival at Lyon.

Suddenly, Ernest Nehme became the record signing in the Belgian competition last season. However, the 20-year-old Ghanaian striker has yet to play a single match in the Jupiler Pro League.

RWDM raised a lot of eyebrows last summer when they acquired Nehme for a world record fee of around €25m from Danish club Nordsjaelland, but immediately loaned him to Olympique Lyonnais.

However, the Brussels club, like Lyon, is a club of the portfolio of American businessman John Textor. It seems that he wants to circumvent the rules of financial fair play by building around the transfer of Nehme.

Nema never played for RWDM. He scored three goals in 33 games for Lyon last season. In the French capital, he remains a teammate of Orel Mangala, Malick Fofana and former Ghent striker Gift Orban.

Now Lyon have announced the permanent arrival of Nema. With a fee of around €28.5 million, the striker now also holds the previous record in the Challenger League.
