WhatsApp Channels are a new way to follow news organizations, companies or people via WhatsApp. This feature was initially only launched in Singapore and Colombia, but is gradually becoming available worldwide. I have also been able to use the new function in our country since June.
WhatsApp users can decide for themselves which channels to join. You can now visit the HLN.be channel to stay up to date with the latest Het Laatste news. Joining the channel is completely anonymous and you can only reply with emojis. Neither other members nor the administrator can see who is responding. A WhatsApp user's phone number also remains private.
“With the HLN.be WhatsApp channel, we basically want to be where our readers expect us to be,” explains Jonas Lips, social editor of HLN and VTM NIEUWS. “We are keeping people updated with the news through our channel. The updates will be a news mix of the day's top stories, breaking news, but of course also great impactful stories as we notice that our readers need positive stories more than ever.
