The United States has reached the final of the Gold Cup. In Austin, the US state of Texas, Qatar lost 1-0 in the semifinals. In the final, the United States will face Mexico, who beat Canada 2-1.
Kiazi Sardes scored the only goal for the United States in the 86th minute. He was crucified by Nicholas Gioachini. Qatar had a great chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Hasan al-Haidos, however, passed his try past goalkeeper Matt Turner.
In preparation for next year’s World Championships, Qatar competed in the Gold Cup, a championship for teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The World Cup takes place in Qatar.
As for Mexico, Hector Herrera scored well in stoppage time. Arbelin Pineta highlighted Mexico with a penalty kick, with Dajon Buchanan watching 1-1.
