Club Brugge is 20 points behind leaders Union SG. Again, this is not the season to write about blueblack.
Club Brugge started the season with many ambitions. The national title was the ultimate goal, but due to the huge deficit against competition leader Union SG, he was now actually forced to abandon that goal.
This week will be crucial for the Blue and Black, with the second leg of the Kroki Cup semi-final. Club Brugge must qualify for the cup final, otherwise coach Ronnie Deila's credit seems very small.
Acquisition of Club Brugge?
It is also a current sports drama for pundit Frankie van der Elst at his favorite club. He will have to watch sadly as things do not go well, with the ultimate disappointment being their first home defeat of the season to arch rivals RSC Anderlecht on Sunday.
However, things appear to be going very well financially for the club, with the latest payment being Igor Thiago's no less than €37m move to Brentford. But this surplus of cents yields nothing.
“They now have a pocket full of money. Are they trying to be a sexy bride to potential buyers?” asks van der Elst Het Nieuwsblad. “I'm just guessing, but again: what's happening now is not enough.”
