musicBlur will be taking another break soon. Band leader Damon Albarn, 55, believes it’s time to “package” the English rock band again, he says. “It was a great success, but it is in the past.”
“This is too much for me,” says singer Damon Albarn in an interview with the French channel Les Inrockuptibles. “I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it again, it was a great success, but I won’t talk about the past.” Blur reunited this year after an eight-year hiatus.
The rock band released the album “The Ballad of Darren” and performed at several festivals and pop venues, including Lokerse Feesten this summer. Albarn announced in the interview that “Song 2” will be taking another hiatus. “It is time to end this campaign,” he said. “It was the right thing to do and it was a huge honor to play these songs again. And also to spend time with these people again and make an album and so on.”
The singer is currently working on an opera that will be performed in Paris next year. He will also meet in India with cartoonist and artist Jimmy Hewlett “to work on the new Gorillaz album.” In addition to Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon is also busy with other projects. With his other band The Waeve he is a support act for Elbow’s British tour.
