Many entrepreneurs complain about the ever-increasing regulatory burden. Often the entrepreneur is no longer given any scope to achieve desired goals through entrepreneurship and/or knowledge and craftsmanship.
Rules and legislation must be tested to determine their practical feasibility. The government now often goes so far as to specify how entrepreneurs should achieve their goals. This is exactly where things go wrong. Entrepreneurship, knowledge and skills of the entrepreneur must once again take center stage and the entrepreneur must once again be given the space to showcase this, achieve the desired goals and ensure the continuity of the company.
Despite business grumbling, and this is certainly not limited to farmers and gardeners, the Dutch business climate is still well regarded. This is clearly demonstrated in the Business Climate Monitoring Report, which was recently commissioned by the government. But the pass is not “good”, so there is also work to be done in forming a new coalition.
In addition, recognition from the community is important for entrepreneurs. An attractive business climate is crucial to achieving strong earning capacity and thus prosperity in the Netherlands. After all, entrepreneurs make it possible. This simple economic principle is not always adequately understood by everyone.
Entrepreneurs and their companies provide two-thirds of jobs in the Netherlands and contribute significantly to financing public facilities, such as healthcare, education and infrastructure. Good preconditions for a strong business climate are a shared responsibility between society and the business community.
Pretending that business is not desirable or important is a complete fallacy
Stable and predictable politics – including viability, less regulatory burden, availability of adequate space, and the way we talk about companies – has an impact on our business climate. Pretending that business is not desirable or important is a complete fallacy. They are the corks on which society revolves, not the other way around.
