Google is saying goodbye to the so-called “infinite scroll” of search results. Instead, you can manually tap again to go to the next page. The change takes effect immediately on desktop and will later be expanded to mobile search as well.
In the news: In a notable shift, Google has reversed a change made several years ago. In October 2021, it introduced infinite scrolling to mobile search results, and in December 2022, this layout was also introduced to desktop search results. Now the company is returning to the system of manually clicking to the next page to see more search results. This system is famous for having the long phrase “Gooooooooogle” at the bottom of search results. The news regarding this planned change to the website was confirmed by a Google spokesperson itself Search engine country.
- This new – or old – system has been reintroduced since June 25 for those who use Google on desktop. The modification will come to smartphones and tablets “in the coming months.”
Faster and better
According to Google, the modification was made for two reasons.
- Search results will be displayed much faster with the manual click to next page system.
- Additionally, Google found that endlessly displaying new search results did not lead to increased satisfaction among its users.
