On Monday, Great Minin was eliminated from the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha by Czech Marketa Vondrousova, currently ranked 8th in the world. Although Minnen had a strong response in set 2 (0-6), Vondrousova dominated the first and third sets 6-2, 6-4.
Grete Menin, the Belgian tennis star currently ranked 85th in the WTA rankings, was disappointingly eliminated in the second round of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Doha, Qatar on Monday.
Her opponent was sixth seed Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic, who is currently ranked eighth in the women's tennis world rankings.
It was an exciting match played over three sets. Minnen had to drop the first set to Vondrousova, but he responded just as convincingly by taking the second set 0-6.
In the third set, Minin appeared to be on her way back, at one point leading 2-4. However, Vondrousova showed her resilience and was able to break Minin's serve twice, eventually winning 6-4 in the third set and thus clinching the match.
