Club Brugge played a training match against French club Valenciennes. We had to wait and see what accents new coach Nicky Hayne would add, but the match ended behind closed doors.
A journalist from Het Nieuwsblad was allowed to attend the training match against the last team of Ligue 2 and saw things no one else saw. According to him, it was remarkable that Hein immediately felt at home and trained as he always did.
The fact that he now has superstars under his wing instead of Club NXT doesn't seem to make much of a difference to the coach. After just a few days, it may already be clear who will have to ensure the big turnaround at Blue Black.
Hine regularly reminded Vanaken that he should not collapse. Club Brugge's new coach always wanted Balanta to progress, so that his attacking players would not be on an island, as was often the case under Deila.
Chaos at Club Brugge
However, Hayen also faced the fact that blueblack had difficulty switching from one system to another. The switch from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 caused more chaos and a lower line than we have already seen this season.
Fans shouldn't expect much more than that, as Hayne's stint will ultimately only last ten games. It is clear that Vanaken will become the big pivot and will be given the necessary freedom after this training match.
Whether that's enough to get a new title and whether it will make fans' hearts beat faster is another question.
