Club Brugge open the competition tonight against KV Mechelen. A win seems essential for Nicky Hein.
Nicky Hein was particularly tough on his players after last weekend’s Super Cup loss to Union SG, although that was also understandable after Blauwesart’s poor start.
“I thought it wasn’t so bad, I was already tougher,” laughs Hein Vanhaezebrouck in Het Nieuwsblad. “I think it’s good that he puts his boys on the edge, but I saw two teams ready to start competing.”
It will obviously be a very important season not only for Club Brugge, but also for Nicky Hein. Especially with the Champions League on the programme, but also the Jupiler Pro League.
Does Haine get as much credit as Della?
His position is completely different to Ronnie Deila’s. “He wasn’t the first choice to succeed Deila, but if you’re still playing the hero from a losing position, I think it makes sense to continue with him.”
Then Vanhaezebrouck dropped a bombshell about Nicky Hein’s position at Club Brugge. “Just: they put a lot of effort into Deila, and you’re sure to stay with a coach like that for a longer period, even if things don’t go well. Will they do the same with Hein?”
