There are many Belgian coaches looking for a new challenge. They have a vacancy in Lierse after the resignation of Geert Emmerechts himself. However, the Challenger Pro League club is receiving a “no” from many coaches.
Lierse is looking for a coach
Lierse is fighting for survival in the Professional Challenger League and Belgian football must somehow hope to achieve that. After all, Lierse is a club in Belgian hands and mainly gives playing opportunities to Belgian players. It should also be in the second tier of Belgian professional football.
But clearly there's not much to be proud of when it comes to pay. Jonas de Rock, Yannick Ferreira and Karl Hofkens thanked Liers for the suggestion. That reports The newspaper. There will now be three candidates remaining.
Which Belgian coach?
Hofkens is a former Lierse player, who had unsuccessful spells at Club Brugge and Standard. He was linked to Zamalek, but that did not materialize. De Rock was sacked as coach of Westerlo this season and Ferreira has worked mainly abroad in recent years.
Lierse hopes to introduce a new coach soon. It is clear that they would prefer to hire a Belgian coach. However, with Marc Brace, Guillaume Gillet, Steven Defour, Tom Saintveit, Will Steele, Glenn de Boeck, Sven Vandenbroucke, Stijn Vriven and others, there are still plenty of options.
