When you want to play a game, Netflix isn’t the first platform you think of. But while the service is still primarily concerned with movies and TV shows, the scope of games is also growing. But how do you actually play Netflix games?
Games in Netflix App
The easiest way to find Netflix games is through the Netflix mobile app. On the main screen of the app there is a row of games and at the bottom you will find a Games tab. Here you can see what you can play on Netflix.
Once you’ve selected a game, tap Get Game, which will open the App Store or Play Store. Then tap Install. You can also start playing installed games via the Netflix app. iPhone users don’t necessarily have to download a game: on an Apple device, you can also opt for the cloud version.
You can also download and install a Netflix game without opening the Netflix app first. In this case, open the App Store or Play Store and search for the game name, or check the Netflix developer page to see what’s available to play. When you open the game and need to sign in, use your Netflix account credentials.
Your device must meet the requirements. Android phones must be running Android 8.0 or later, while Apple users need iOS 15 or iPadOS 15. If your phone or tablet is very old, it won’t be difficult to meet the requirements.
Other options are not yet available in the Netherlands.
Not everyone likes to play on mobile. Netflix is working on other options, but they aren’t of much use to us in the Netherlands yet. For example, there are options to play via your browser on a device with a mouse and keyboard. But this option is not yet available in the Netherlands.
The same goes for the ability to play games through the Netflix TV app using an app that turns your phone into a controller. This option has been available in the US since last year, and while it’s now also available in Europe, the Netherlands isn’t yet a country where you can play Netflix games on your TV. It’s possible in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
What kind of games does Netflix offer?
Many of the Netflix games are games designed for mobile phones. But there are also titles that have also been released on console and PC. For example, you can also play games like
Sonic ManiaAnd Dead Cells and GTA Trilogy. You don’t pay extra to play the games, so it can be an affordable way to test out certain games.
