There are all kinds of rumors circulating that iPhone 13 The Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with 120Hz LTPO OLED displays when they launch later this year. Similar screens will appear in the other two models in 2022, according to a new report.
This post is from a Korean news site Electricity. They state that LG Display is preparing to produce screens for Apple smartphones for 2022. So this could be the iPhone 14 series. This indicates that Apple can bring screens with a higher refresh rate to the standard iPhone and iPhone Mini.
We expect to see the iPhone 13 series in September, which will include the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini. It doesn’t look like these two devices will come with LTPO 120Hz displays at the moment. They are said to stick with 60Hz OLED screens, just like iPhone 12.
If these reports are correct, the iPhone 14 series will be the first to give all Apple smartphone screens a 120Hz refresh rate.
LG Display is said to be in talks with a manufacturer called Avaco. They manufacture the parts needed for LTPO screens. Samsung is rumored to make the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max screens. However, it is suspected that they do not have enough capacity to provide screens for all models of the new ranges.
A screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz would be a good upgrade. It provides a smoother picture than a 60Hz screen. There are already many Android smartphones Which offers this kind of technology, so it would be crazy if Apple could fall so far behind in this area.
As always, this involves multiple assumptions, so there is no guarantee that Apple will actually implement this type of display technology in its smartphones. So take everything with a grain of salt for now.
Apple may keep revisiting its steps during development, or see that there isn’t enough stock to add these types of screens. The launch of the iPhone 14, or whatever the name of the device is, will take some time. So we probably won’t be able to say for sure until 2022.
