Iran has warned the US in writing not to get involved in tensions between Iran and Israel. It was written by Mohammad Jamshidi, head of political affairs for the Iranian president Friday at X.
Iran notes that Israel wants to draw the US into conflict. Washington “must not be drawn into Netanyahu's net for America.” Jamshidi also writes that Washington wants Tehran not to target US facilities in return. Washington has yet to respond publicly.
Already hostile relations between Israel and Iran have worsened since Monday, April 1, when an airstrike on the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus killed seven Iranian leaders. Although the attack was not claimed, Iran and Syria point the finger at Israel. Israel has carried out dozens of airstrikes against Iranian targets in Syria in recent years. The commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards yesterday vowed that Iran would retaliate for the attack, but gave no concrete details yet.
Hezbollah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah said the October 7 attack on the consulate was a turning point. Hezbollah is a militant group that controls large parts of Syria. Like Iran's regime, it is Shiite and the two parties are in coalition. Israel carried out several bombings in Syria's Hezbollah area. Nasrallah believes that a response to the alleged Israeli attack will “definitely come” and noted that Hezbollah has additional weapons and manpower and has yet to commit to the conflict.
