Brazilian data miner Matheusvictorbr took to Twitter to say that the release of the next generation of GTA V and GTA Online is ‘complicated’ for Rockstar and that a re-release is likely. Delayed. According to him, it is GTA Online that is throwing a wrench in the works. He expects an official statement from Rockstar explaining this soon. He said:
“I had some information recently regarding the title Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced. The development has been complicated. At the moment, it is still scheduled for March, but there is a good chance it will be pushed back to April/May. Rockstar article soon. The plan was The original is a straightforward patch with GTA Online Standalone releasing sometime in 2021. But as GTA Online grows and evolves, you need an engine that can sustain accuracy and continued growth in the future. So they’re re-adapting.”
In short, there’s a lot more to be done for the GTA Online engine than Rockstar has estimated, so it likely won’t be released in March. Fortunately, in addition to this bad news, he also offers a little teaser for upcoming content for GTA Online:
“As I mentioned a while ago, Rockstar Games 3 are amazing things for GTA Online. I can’t say much, but pack your bags.”
Well, as long as the release of the next generation of GTA V doesn’t get as bad as the GTA Trilogy, this delay of a few months is not a disaster.
