Anderlecht narrowly missed out on the title this season. Jesper Friedberg is clear that he wants to compete for trophies again next season.
Anderlecht had a great season, but in the end they completely lost control. After losing to Club Brugge in the penultimate round of the match, the purple and white team no longer had control. A week later, the team played champions after a draw with Cercle Brugge.
It is clear that Jasper Friedberg has many ambitions, he said during the announcement of the new Pro League calendar. “We want to attack again, yes. I told the players after the last game that this is a feeling they need to remember, because it is a very bad feeling.”
“Our ambition now is to never feel like this again. Now we will hunt. We will do our best to put together a team that can compete for trophies.”
So something will happen at Anderlecht, but the club must also take into account departures. “Unfortunately, it’s not just in my hands. Clubs will look for players that we will have to let go, even if we don’t want to. I hope that the team we start the season with will be a stronger team. Both individually and as a group.”
He concluded: “We had a good season if we evaluate it. But when you are so close to achieving something great, you want it. Now we really want to compete for trophies again, whether it is for the title or the cup.” .
