Juvenile vouchers are valid for up to 3 years and 2 months | Festivals

Almost all festivals and concerts were disrupted last year due to the Corona pandemic. As compensation, many people received a voucher for the event, which will be valid for two years. But now that the 2021 Summer Festival is also in jeopardy, Secretary of State for Consumer Protection Eva de Bleeker (Open Vld) has extended that period of validity to 3 years and two months.

No Rock Werchter, Tomorrowland, and Pukkelpop last year. Many concerts by artists in halls such as Sportpaleis have been canceled. In fact, the fate of the events this summer has not yet been decided, but Secretary of State De Bleeker (Open Vld) is on the safe side: in consultation with the juvenile sector itself, the validity of event vouchers – which were distributed one year most recently – will be increased from 2 to 3 years. And two months. Why these other two months? In order for the voucher to remain valid, the event had to be held in September only.

De Bleeker was convinced. “Our country has always been a paradise for music lovers with countless festivals and concerts. We want this to remain that way and that after Corona we can once again fully enjoy the concert halls and festival meadows.”

The longer shelf life should give the strip and the consumer more breathing room. For example, not every festival – big or small – can be organized again this year. For example, it is not always possible for concert organizers to bring an artist back to Belgium. It also provides more options for the music lovers themselves. Let’s say you don’t like the list of festivals in 2021, you can wait until 2022 – hopefully, the list of artists will be a little better.
