Our editors search through different streaming platforms every week, looking for the best movies, series and documentaries. On the list this week: A new HBO series launches Streamz Starring Kate Winslet, who has received nothing but praise and five-star reviews in the international press, a documentary about a grim real crime about a mother searching for her daughter’s killers and a Norwegian crime scene.
1. Triumphant return
Ten years after her last acting role in the mini-drama Mildred Pierce (for which she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy), actress Kate Winslet is back on the small screen in HBO Original Mare of Easttown. Nobody seems to be able to escape this sad city in Pennsylvania, which is plagued by a devastating opioid crisis. As her life collapses around her, Detective Mary Sheehan (Winslet) bites herself in a local murder investigation with the help of Detective Colin Zabel (Evan Peters). In addition to traditional police action, “Mare of Easttown” also paints a painful picture of how personal tragedies haunt you and how small communities sometimes have a dark side. Kate Winslet described the role as “the most challenging of her career”. By the way, the actress spent several months in East Town mastering the local dialect.
Beginning April 19, Streamz will release a new episode of the seven-part detective series every week.
The new police series “Wisting” is the most expensive drama series ever made in Norway, and is taken from two novels by Norwegian author Jorn Lear Horst. In the series, we follow Detective and Widower William Westing, whose life is turned upside down by a difficult murder case. A shocking discovery terrifies residents of the Norwegian town of Larvik when it turns out that there is a universally wanted American serial killer.
We know that Oscar winner James Cameron is the director of “Titanic” and “Avatar”, but he’s also an ecologist. In his latest production, he was able to unify those feelings, immersing himself in the underwater world of whales, in three years in 24 different locations. Whale secrets take you on an epic journey that teaches us that whales are much more complex and more like us than we have ever imagined before.

The police couldn’t fix the problem, so Belinda decided to take it over herself. With a fake MySpace profile, she searches for the real perpetrators, balancing the boundaries between revenge and justice.

Netflix is launching a new fantasy series “Shadow and Bone,” based on Leigh Bardugo’s world-famous Grisha trilogy. In the series, orphan Alina Starkov unleashes an extraordinary power that could be the key to liberating her country in a war-torn world. Game of Thrones fans are preparing better for this exciting release.
