Belgium will face the USA this weekend in the BJK Cup in Orlando. Sophia Costolas (WTA-279) is the leader of our country.
Costolas opens the tournament in Florida against Jessica Pegula (WTA-5), then it's Hanne Vandewinkel (WTA-278) against Emma Navarro (WTA-21). A difficult task for the Belgian team, which cannot rely on established names like Elise Mertens (WTA-30), Creed Minnen (WTA-70) and Yanina Wickmayer (WTA-89).
Captain Wim Fizzet is realistic: “We have a young team and we clearly know it will be a difficult task, but we always hope for a miracle. This is a great way for Hane and Sofia to gain the highest level of experience.
Two singles matches are rescheduled for Saturday. Vandewinkel fights Pegula, and Kostoulas faces Navarro. In the final doubles match, Marie Benoit (WTA D-472) and Kimberly Zimmerman (WTA D-73) play against Madison Keys (WTA D-396) and Taylor Townsend (WTA D-12). The winner of the meeting will play in the final round in Seville in November.
