KRC Genk breaks club record

KRC Genk is and will remain a training club. Young and Belgian talents are often sold for big money. Will the Limburgers set a Belgian record?

Can Genk overcome Club Brugge?

There is a lot of talk about the fact that Club Brugge has already been sold for €56.50 million. With Andreas Skov Olsen, who wants to leave the club, another €15-20 million could be added.

Guests like Dedryck Boyata, Faitout Maouassa and Kamal Sowah could fill the cash register a bit. Rafael Onyedika is also a question mark with a potential €20m. Club Brugge could get closer to €100m at best.

Genk has already been sold for €45.6m.

But KRC Genk could follow suit too. The Limburgers have already sold this summer for €45.60m. This has been confirmed by Matias Galarza, Mike Tresor, Martin Vandevoordt, Aliou Vadera, Nicolas Castro, Mark McKenzie, Rasmus Carstensen and Anouar Ait El Hadj. The deals for Tresor and Vandevoordt were previously completed but only came into effect this summer.

But Racing Genk will get a lot of money. Mike Penders brings in €20m. That counter will surely rise to €65.60m. But Bilal El Khannous still has to follow and the club wants at least €25m for him.

And what did Carlos Cuesta (Genk want 8 million) and Andy Zeqiri bring? In addition, offers have already been received for Zakaria El Wahedi and Tolu Arukodari, although they are likely to stay.

So it looks like KRC Genk could break the €100m mark if Penders, El Khannoss, Questa and Zeqiri are sold. Their previous record is €78m in the 2019/2020 season and we also include the winter transfer window. This will definitely fail.
