The annual cycling awards have been handed out in the Netherlands. Track rider Harry Lafrisen has been named rider of the year. Anime Van Vleuten is cyclist of the year.

Matteo van der Poel has won the Dutch Cycling’s Best Cup for the past two years.

In 2021, Van der Poel became the world champion in cyclo-cross, donning the yellow jersey after winning a stage at the Tour and on the podium at the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. But in the games things go wrong in mountain biking.

Good results, but Van der Poel was no match for Harry Lafrisen in the election. The biker won one award after another last year.

Layvresen collected 2 Olympic titles (sprinting and team sprinting), 3 world titles (sprinting, keirin and team sprint) and 2 European titles (sprinting and team sprinting).

In the women’s competition, Annemiek van Vleuten took the main trophy for the third time. The 39-year-old racer became an Olympic champion in time trial at the Games and took the silver medal in the road race. She was also on the highest scaffold on the Tour of Flanders.
