The Women’s Baloise Tour opened with a 3.8 kilometer introduction in Utrecht. In the opening stage, Britain’s Anna Henderson (Jumbo-Visma) set the fastest time.
Many riders bit their teeth at the time of the British. Even the top three positions remained unchanged for a long time. The Polish Niewiadoma (valley) was also unable to dive under Henderson. We had to wait until the last knights to create some tension.
British sprinter Alice Barnes (Canyon) started with great ambition, but was eventually stranded 12 seconds behind her compatriot Henderson.
Madam Parkhotel Valkenburg’s time was amazing. Dutchman Likki Nouijn finished at exactly the same time as her compatriot and teammate Amber van der Holst. Together they are stranded in the joint fifth. Tradition says that the best Dutchman gets an orange shirt. For once, two orange shirts were handed out.
The last contestant to leave was last year’s winner, Lisa Klein. With No. 1 on her back, she jumped to a new peak. I improved Henderson’s time by two seconds.
Thus, German Klein won the front of the women’s Tour Balois and is the first leader. Tomorrow the riders will be riding in and around Eeklo. In total, they drive 13 laps through Meetjesland.
