Bayer Leverkusen became German champions this season without losing a single match. A former Club Brugge player played a key role in this: Odilon Kousunou.
Kosono has usually been a regular starter in Bayer Leverkusen’s rotation this season. Since the club remained active on three fronts and Kosounou also had to play many matches for Ivory Coast, he needed some rest every now and then.
But he was an indispensable pawn in the almost unbeatable defense of the German champions. They only conceded 24 goals in the competition. If they also win the Europa League and the German Cup, they can really call themselves ‘unbeatable’.
Kusono aroused the interest of all the great Europeans by his achievements. Liverpool are said to be leading efforts to land the 23-year-old centre-back.
They are not the only ones, because Manchester United are also interested. Anyone who wants to pry him away from Leverkusen will have to dig deep into their pockets, as they want around €60m for him.
The club bought him from Hammerby for 4 million and sold him to Leverkusen for 23 million. The Ivorian international’s career is certainly on the rise.
