About Parkinson’s Disease

Professor of Neurological Movement Disorders and Parkinson’s Disease Expert Bas Blom from Radboud University Medical Center: “With this growth, there will be almost thirteen million people in the world with Parkinson’s disease by 2040. We urgently need to do something about it, because Parkinson’s disease is one of the most debilitating brain diseases in the world.

“Parkinson’s disease is a very complex disease that originates in the brain, but the way the disease manifests itself is not the same for everyone. It affects men and women, young and old. Each one of them has their own Parkinson’s disease. From shaking hands and depression to standing rooted to the ground and no longer showing initiative. Treatment and guidance for Parkinson’s disease require a highly specialized and expert approach. The needs and wishes of the person with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones must be examined again and again” (source Parkinsonnet). Your life also changes dramatically for your partner, family and other loved ones if you are faced with Parkinson’s disease.
