Lommel qualified for the final of the promotion qualifiers on Wednesday evening. Limburger's side needed a 1-0 win over Zulte-Waregem and will play the first leg of the final against Dinze on Sunday.
In Zulte-Waregem, Brüls took the kick-off, and in Lommel, coach Bold kept confidence in the eleven who played the first leg (1-1). The home team controlled the game from the start, Zolte Wargem kept too many people behind the ball and did not want to concede a goal.
Lommel was able to shift control into several smaller chances, with Diego Rosa shooting goalkeeper De Wolfe several times and Schoofs missing a free-kick opportunity. Overall, the Zulte Waregem held up quite easily.
Essevee could have rested after taking the lead because at the end of the first half Jelle Vossen had several excellent chances to give their team the lead. His breakaway shot was blocked and shortly afterwards he hit the post.
As happened in the first half, Lommel also took the lead at the start of the second half, but it was the visitors who created the first real danger. Jelly Fossen scored, but Ndour sent him offside.
The match went back and forth and the tension built. Zolti Wargem faced danger on several occasions, but it was the green shirts who scored with less than fifteen minutes remaining. Diego Costa took a corner kick on the head of Skovs, who headed it into the far corner (1-0). Zulte Waregem's final attack no longer actually materializes.
The season is over for Zulte Waregem, and they are sentenced to an additional season in the Challenger Pro League. Lommel can now prepare for the double clash with Dinzi, which begins on Sunday at their Sovereign Stadium.
