Local police in Portage (Indiana) shared body camera footage of the rescue of Matt Roemer (27 years old). He was trapped in his wrecked car for six days at the end of December, escaping only by rainwater. Two hikers came across the wreckage by chance, as it was under a bridge. They called emergency services and were eventually able to free Matt. He was taken to the hospital where his leg was amputated. Meanwhile, he also met his rescuers and remained positive: “My faith in humanity has been revived.”
