Baetens had known for some time that he would start the World Championship with the No. 1 spot in the WDF rankings. “This of course adds some extra pressure,” Baetens admits. But the opposition should be more afraid of me than the other way around. I’m playing with a lot of confidence and I’ve already won some games this season. So confidence is definitely good.”

Last year, Baetens failed to reach the quarter-finals. He is sure to take this experience with him. “Last year I came out because I had too much Doubles Missing. I trained extra for that this year. “My goal is to come home as world champion.”

The WDF World Championships take place from 2 to 10 December. Baetens will play his first game on December 4.
