On Wim Helsen ‘Winteruur’ on Canvas, Maaike told Cafmeyer about the deep valleys she had to go through after the whole Bart De Pauw case broke out.
“I feel so humiliated, almost ridiculed,” she confessed, sitting on Helsen’s sofa. “I was really so deep. I didn’t know how to get out of there. I was so sad. Suddenly (by the ‘Snowdrops’ script by Louise Gluck who had come to read it on the programme, editor) there was the obvious thought that everything would be all right.”
Maaike Cafmeyer has been Bart De Pauw’s opponent since 2004 on two seasons of Het Gender De Pauw. The two have also collaborated on Loft, Two to the Sixth Power and It’s Showtime, among others. Kavmeyer accused De Pauw of dangerous infringing behavior and would have been the first to go to a secret counsel from the public broadcaster. “He kept sending messages. It was stifling and suffocating. I couldn’t rest because of the constant ‘ping, bing, bing’ and the screen being lit up,” Kavmeyer said during her police interrogation. The two had been in a relationship for a while. Bart de Pauw was acquitted of the charge of electronic assault and harassment against Mike Kavmayer.
