Club Brugge lost 3-2 to Genk on Sunday. After three days of matches, the national champions remain just one point behind from nine.
Club Brugge will also miss out on the start of this year’s competition. After winning the national title last season, Nicky Hein’s Jupiler League did not start the new year as everyone expected.
It will be a long week at Club Brugge, as analyst Mark Degriesi knows. Hayen will be closely watched by the Blue Black board to see how he manages to cope with this crisis.
“How does he speak? What choices does he make? At the same time, the same council wants the reinforcements to bear fruit as quickly as possible, so that it does not have to hear criticism that the new faces do not add value,” says Degries in Het Laatste Nieuws.
Club Brugge still surrendered a 0-2 lead at the Sigikka Stadium. Degryse does not hesitate to name the men who were not entirely convincing. “In this regard, I found Sikit and Nelson among the club’s weakest players in the match against Racing Genk.”
The programme for the coming weeks isn’t bad either. “Against Antwerp, against Dender, and the derby against Cercle Brugge. Just stand there. I’m curious to see where Club Brugge and Nicky Hein will stand when we start the international break in the first week of September.
