Martinez summons Dante Vanzer and Watt Vice for World Cup qualifiers | Red Devils

National team coach Roberto Martinez has selected Dante Vanzer and Wat Weiss for the World Cup qualifier matches against Estonia (November 13) and Wales (November 16). It was the first choice of two young Belgians for the Red Devils.

Who should lead the Belgian offensive line? Martinez had to come up with a creative answer to this question with the injuries of Romelu Lukaku and Michy Batshuayi. With Dante Vanzier, the top scorer of Al Ittihad, a surprise happens.

Vanzer, who has been called into the Red Devils for the first time, has to cover the attack with Christian Benteke and Divock Origi. 45 years ago, a player from the union with Jan Verhein was called up for the national team.

“Dante has a great story at Union. His development is impressive,” Martinez explains. “Philis Matsu created a winning mentality at Union, Vanzer is the embodiment of that. With two attackers injured, this is his chance to gain experience.”

“He used to play with two strikers. He loves to break through the defensive line and give the team space. Vanzer has secured his place with the Red Devils, and now I have to see if I can also give him a role on the field.”

I can make up for Romelu Lukaku’s absence in a number of ways, although no one can completely replace Lukaku.

Divock Origi, who finally got chances again at Liverpool, is also back at the Red Devils. His last minutes of play will start on October 8, 2020 in the international match against Ivory Coast. But when it comes to the type of attacker, Christian Benteke seems closest to Lukaku’s profile.

“I can make up for Romelu Lukaku’s absence in different ways,” says the national team coach. “As a target striker I think of, say, Christian Benteke. Origi, Vanzier and Trussard are more dynamic strikers, although no one can completely replace Lukaku.”

Will Divock Origi stand a chance against Estonia or Wales?

“Great opportunity for Wout Faes”

Lukaku and Batshuayi aren’t the only regulars who should miss the Estonia-Wales double. Jérémy Doku isn’t quite fit yet, and the selection comes too early for Zinho Vanheusden. Thomas Vermaelen cannot come to Belgium due to Japan’s strict quarantine rules.

Martinez had to fill in some gaps in the rear. The national coach first knocked on the door of Wet Weiss, who plays at Stade Reims. Arthur’s Left Foot Theater (Bologna) has been called again.

“Watt Weiss is a young defender who plays every minute in France,” Martinez said. “He is in full development, the Red Devils are the next step in his career. Zenhu Vanheusden and Sebastian Bornau are injured, so this is a great opportunity for Weiss.”

Wout Faes in full development, the Red Devils are the next step in his career.

“Eden Hazard just needs to get the rhythm of the match”

By defeating Estonia, the Red Devils made sure to secure a World Cup ticket in Qatar. “The World Cup is in a year, so I’ve been preparing the team for a while,” Martinez said. “Our only focus is on qualifying for the final round.”

Will Eden Hazard be able to play a leading role in the World Cup? The Red Devil had been struggling with his form for a while and was sitting on the couch more than he wanted to. But the national coach hasn’t worried much yet.

“As an outsider, we look at Eden Hazard’s situation differently. He plays fewer minutes than we had hoped. We have a good relationship with the medical staff at Real Madrid.”

“They confirmed that he is in full shape and that he is training extra hard for the rest of the season. Now he has to play to get the rhythm of the match. His focus and demeanor are really good.”
